A small plastic object that is inserted into the uterus. Works locally by releasing a hormone directly into the uterus. The mini-IUD releases less hormone than the traditional hormonal IUD. The hormone affects the lining of the uterus so that eggs cannot attach and sperm have difficulty penetrating.
